Mansion of Abraham Kopp

вул.Сергія Серікова, 28, Запоріжжя

A mansion was commissioned by the German entrepreneur Abraham Kopp at the beginning of the 20th century. The building's architecture combines several styles, and it is often classified as Jugendstil, the German version of Art Nouveau. The roof is designed in the style of French chateaus, which gives it a palace-like appearance.

Abraham Kopp was one of the founders of agricultural machinery manufacturing in the city of Oleksandrivsk. He started his business with a small forge, and in 1874, he built a foundry and machine-building plant, where he installed the first steam engine in 1877. During 1914-1916, he personally financed the "Bethany" psychiatric hospital in the Kronsvayde colony.

In the summer of 2019, during archaeological excavations, tombstones of A. Kopp and his wife were found, which had been walled up by the Bolsheviks in the foundation of a farm building from the 1930s on the territory of Verkhnya Khortytsa, where there was a Mennonite cemetery in the early 20th century.
