The Sanctuaries of the Bronze Age

Запоріжжя, о.Хортиця, південніше балки Велика Молодняга

In 1992, an entire complex of stone structures of cult significance was discovered. They are dated to the II millennium BC - the early Bronze Age. These structures have survived for centuries without changes or reconstructions, indicating their importance and sacred meaning.

During excavations in the eastern part, small fragments of a clay pot decorated with ornamentation were found. Despite the small number of fragments found, researchers were able to determine that the ceramic material of the pot is typical for the Bronze Age.

In the center of the sanctuary, an oval pit was discovered with small fragments of a clay vessel with ornamentation. Inside this pit, the burial of an adult from the Yamna-Catacomb culture was discovered.

After the research, parts of the sanctuary were reconstructed and now anyone can see and literally touch the past. Here you can see wooden figurines of pagan gods, including Perun - the god of thunder and Veles - the patron of storytellers and poetry.
