Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Yulia Danilevskaya has been in Kherson, occupied by the Russians. Almost immediately, she returned to artistic practice. The artist posted her works on social media, and in a number of exhibitions they took part only in the form of copies, since the originals were in Kherson in a secret hiding place throughout the entire period of occupation.
"Zaporizhzhya revealed its liminality to me: somewhere far behind - the legendary past, ahead - the disturbing and at the same time promising uncertainty of the future, and in the middle - us, looking at our phones to see how many drones are flying over the city and at the same time looking for the schedule of turning off the lights on our turn..."
